Wigston win top-of-the-table clash (6.7.2013)

Wigston came out the victors in their top-of-the-table clash with Sharnford to open up a sizeable lead in Division One. Batting first, Wigston posted 201-8 as Amir Habib made 56, despite Sharnford’s Shaun Jones picking up 4-29.Sharnford, who started the day in second, got off to a good start with opener Richard Jones making 53. But Paul Newnham’s spell of 5-27, assisted by Ravi Fulbaria’s 3-37, made sure of the win for Wigston as Sharnford were eventually bowled out for 163.

 

Wigston well on track (20.7.2013)

In Division One, Wigston are well on track for an immediate return to the Premier Division.They notched their 10th win of the campaign in some style knocking off a victory target of 178 with just one wicket down. Stoughton made 177-6 and, in reply, Faizal Kassam hit 98 not out, including 18 fours, but was left stranded two runs short of his century when the winning runs were struck off the first ball of the 38th over. The chasing pack of Barrow & Burton, Sharnford and Hathern all need Wigston to slip up during the remaining eight games if they are to have any chance of stealing the title.

 

Front-runners have nine-wicket victories (1.8.2013)

The two front-runners in Division One both had nine-wicket wins.Wigston wasted no time in knocking off the 103 runs they needed to beat struggling Whetstone. Paul Newnham took 3-3 as the home side were shot out, before Jason Helmn (45 not out) and Tom Perry (45 not out) saw Wigston home with just one wicket down.
